Actors, Etc, Wanted!

The Hermosa Arts Foundation and Angelvision Productions are looking for actors, writers, directors, musicians, artists and producers interested in starting a group dedicated to developing new original works for public performance at The 2nd Story Theatre, Hermosa Beach. Surf films return to the Pier Avenue Junior High auditorium, also known as the Hermosa Beach Community Theater with the local premier of “Scratching the Surface,” featuring Australian phenom Julian Wilson. The film screens at 6 p.m. and is presented by the South Bay Boardriders Club. Latch Key Kid will perform live, refreshments available. QuikSilver raffle prizes and swag. This promises to be a great South Bay surfing community event and info about the 2011 South Bay Surf Series contests will be announced at the movie. The Zinduna Brothers from Kenya

Circus Vargas is back in town at the Del Amo Mall with performances stretching from Nov. 4-15, then moving to San Pedro’s Ports O’ Call Village from Nov. 17-21. Undulating undines

Bella Circo’s world-class performers and dancers will debut an innovative cirque-style show in the Norris Theatre stage with the whimsical production, Oceania: An Underwater Journey. Audiences will be taken on a mesmerizing voyage into an enchanting, dreamlike aquatic world with beautiful mermaids, mysterious kelp forests, a seahorse carousel, spinning starfish and eerie sea creatures, including an eleven-foot jellyfish. “Stars of the Arts” is a fundraiser hosted by FOLA (Foundation of Local Arts), and it’s to raise money for the Manhattan Council of PTAs to help sustain arts education in the schools. Live music by Omar Torrez, with local author Adrienne Sharp, signing her new book on Oprah, plus fine artists like Marlene Yamada.
