Olympic gold medalist Phil Dalhausser (Beijing 2008) and Olympian Casey Patterson (Rio De Janiero 2016) are the favorites this weekend when the AVP Pro Series returns to Hermosa Beach, after a two year pandemic break. Dalhausser won the Hermosa Open five consecutive years (2006 to 2010) with his Olympic gold medal partner Todd Rogers.

Betsy Flint and Kelly Cheng are the favored women vying for $125,000 in prize money. Flint competed for Loyola Marymount and has six AVP titles. Cheng played for USC and competed in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Admission is free, except for courtside seats, available at AVP.com. Matches run Friday, and Saturday, July 8 and 9, from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. The women’s finals are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, July 10, followed by the men’s finals at 3 p.m.

The tournament can be viewed live on AVP’s YouTube channel, @avpbeach.

The AVP Manhattan Beach Open will be held the weekend of August 19 through August 21. ER
