“Heyyyyyyy Turkey,” is a slogan known by generations of South Bay locals as the calling card of The Strand icon “Turkey John.”

“Growing up in the South Bay, we’ve all had a memorable experience with Turkey John,” said Marisa Jane of the Daisies Collective.

In the midst of the unstoppable forces of revitalization “Turkey John” is a symbol of old school South Bay.

“He represents a time when the South Bay had a more small town feel,” Jane. “It’s fitting that ‘Turkey John’ has been made the symbol for a locals only art show featuring work that concentrates on the South Bay.”

The show takes place Wednesday, November 25 at 333 Pacific Coast Highway, next door to Third Street Tattoo.

“The show is something just as important to the local artists as Thanksgiving,” said Jane.

Started by M1SK (Made 1n Southern Kalifornia) a local design and clothing company, the is an exhibition for up and coming artists and brands.

“It gives us space to really express who we are,” said Jane. “Although M1SK and our missions are a bit different, it’s all about the love of our hometown.”

Jane’s Daisies Collective creates one of a kind, handmade clothing from reclaimed and recycled materials.

“We work with local artists, bands and small businesses,” she said, “as well as giving back to those in need by hosting clothing drives and fundraising events.”

Along with local art, local bands will perform and suds will be poured by the Redondo Beach Brewery and King Harbor Brewing Co. ER
