19-year-old Priscilla Monique Ruiz was pronounced dead at the scene of a collision after her vehicle collided with a taxicab early Saturday morning.

Her vehicle, for reasons unknown, traveled eastbound into the lane of traffic at 2200 Grant Ave. at approximately 3:03 a.m., according to police reports. The vehicle struck a taxicab in a head-on collision near the intersection at Rindge Lane. According to her boyfriend Richard Evans, Ruiz had just dropped Evans off at his Torrance home following his birthday celebration at Club Dulce in Hollywood.
The driver and two passengers in the taxicab suffered moderate injuries and are expected to survive. “It was a bad day to be a passenger,” said investigator Bill Turner.
Hundreds of mourners gathered at the corner of Grant and Rindge avenues Saturday night to mourn the death of Ruiz.

The collision is still under investigation and the police department is requesting anyone who has information or who may have seen the collision to contact Investigator Jeff Mendence or Investigator Bill Turner at 310-379-2477.
