After a festive celebration with about 5,000 fans in Hermosa Beach, Los Angeles Kings Captain Dustin Brown brought the Stanley Cup to Manhattan Beach, home to many Kings players.

He was greeted by cheering fans clad in Kings’ jerseys, who snapped photos with their iPhones and cameras. Earlier this month, the Kings won their first-ever NHL championship.

“You would think the ‘C’ on his jersey stands for captain, but it really stands for champion and it also stands for community,” said Mayor Wayne Powell in introducing Brown. Powell presented Brown with a certificate, a key to City Hall and a city pin.

“This gives me tremendous bragging rights with every other Congressman in the United States of America,” Congresswoman Janice Hahn said proudly, later dedicating the victory to Los Angeles Kings fans.

An earlier version of this article stated that there were 10,000 fans in Hermosa Beach. Hermosa Beach police estimated the number of people was closer to 5,000.
