Hermosa Beach police news: daylight mugging and stranger in the house

No traffic lights

A driver operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol struck an electrical box at Pier and Hermosa avenues at about 2 a.m. Monday morning that disabled the traffic signals, authorities said. No one was seriously injured in the accident, and the traffic signals were functioning again Tuesday afternoon.

Mugging in broad daylight

Someone waiting for the bus at 16th Street and Pacific Coast Highway at about 11: 20 a.m. on Sept. 11 was robbed by an adult couple claiming to have a gun, police said.

Lock your doors at night

An intoxicated man entered a home in the 00 block of 18th Street on Sept. 13 and passed out, police said.

Bar money theft

An ex-employee of a bar in the 1300 block of Manhattan Avenue allegedly stole $20,000 in cash on Sept. 10 and may now be in Mexico, police said. The investigation is ongoing, police said.
