A Hacienda Heights man was arrested Tuesday for his suspected role in the robbery of Fred and Kathy Stanger at their house on Morningside Drive in Manhattan Beach last November, police said in a press release sent out today.
Biological evidence from the scene of the crime led police to Rodolfo Sanchez, 28, and another man, Milton Lavender, 28, of Los Angeles, who is at large.
Sanchez is being held on $2.175 million bail and will be arraigned tomorrow at the Torrance courthouse.
Lavender is also wanted by the Los Angeles Police Department for his alleged role in a home invasion robbery in their jurisdiction. A warrant is out for his arrest.
Both men are charged with robbery, burglary and false imprisonment.
The Stangers returned home late on the evening of Nov. 25 and found their window screens on the ground. When Fred, 72, followed his dog into the kitchen, he was attacked and beaten. Both he and his wife were tied up while the burglars demanded their valuables at gunpoint.
“It was just like a movie. I thought, is this really the way I’m going to go out, by getting shot in the head?” said Kathy the day after the incident.
The couple wriggled out of their ties and called the police.
Neighbors didn’t hear or see anything.
Police ask anybody with information on the whereabouts of Lavender to call Manhattan Beach Police Detective Michael Rosenberger at (310) 802-5127 or their local law enforcement agency. ER
