Emily Espinosa, the Redondo Beach teen who has been missing for more than two months, has made contact with her family, the Redondo Beach Police Department said.
According to a release sent out on Tuesday morning, Espinosa sent a letter to her family over the weekend of Sept. 26, telling them that she is “alive and healthy,” and that she wishes to remain what police called “a voluntary missing.”
Espinosa, 16, did not reveal her whereabouts in the first and only communication she has had since going missing.
Espinosa disappeared shortly after being dropped off at Mira Costa High School the morning of July 22. Initial information indicated that Espinosa had possibly gone to Idaho with her boyfriend. That was later disproven by police.
She is described as being 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 112 pounds, with short brown hair and brown eyes. RBPD is urging anyone with information as to her whereabouts to contact them at 310-937-6685.
