Police warn of increasing residential burglaries
The Redondo Beach Police Department has warned that residential burglaries have increased throughout Redondo, particularly within the Franklin Park area.
According to police, residents have reported a white BMW, with two or three individuals, knocking on doors. If no one answers, the crew then breaks into the house. Police also warn that women and children have been used in the crimes.
RBPD also warns of a man going door to door in the “Golden Triangle” neighborhood, near 190th Street and Prospect Avenue, as well as around the McBain Avenue and Manhattan Beach Boulevard area.
The suspect has been telling residents about road closures and asking for days the following week when they will be home, then asking to use the restroom. Residents are warned to not allow any unfamiliar persons into their homes.
Residents are urged to use doorbell camera systems, which can record video and photos of suspects, and to keep their doors, windows, and vehicles locked at all times. Police also recommend calling police dispatch as soon as possible, especially before posting on Nextdoor or Facebook groups.
RBPD dispatch can be reached at 310-379-5411.
BCHD launches community health survey
The Beach Cities Health District has launched its community health survey in advance of the district’s forthcoming Community Health Snapshot.
Previously, the district has used information from the Gallup-Sharecare Well-Being Index, the California Healthy Kids Survey and the California Health Interview Survey to produce the snapshot. This is the first time in about 10 years that the district has gone to the community directly.
The information will be used to produce the snapshot report of community and resident health, and help the district decide its health priorities going forward.
The survey, which takes about 15 minutes to complete, asks participants their thoughts on both community health at large, and about their personal well-being.
“We’ll get a wide look at what the community’s health needs are, and we’re excited to find out,” said BCHD Director of Lifespan Services Kerrianne Lawson.
