Beach history – Hermosa Historical Society

A Delorean on loan from the El Segundo Automobile Driving Museum established the theme for the Hermosa Beach Historical Society’s 4th Annual “Dancing into the Future” Gala at St. Cross Church on November 4. Proceeds will help fund museum exhibits. Currently on exhibit at the museum is “Sandpipers: Philanthropy Through the Decades,” featuring photos, posters and historical documents from the eight-decades-old. women’s philanthropic group. Permanent exhibits include early Gabrielino Indian artifacts, the Beach Volleyball Hall of Fame, early wood and modern fiberglass surfboards, paddle boards, an aquaplane board, an early Strand cruiser and many other items representing Hermosa Beach’s history. The Museum is located at the Hermosa Beach Community Center. Open Wednesdays 10 a.m. to noon and Saturday and Sundays 2 to 4 p.m.
