Community Safety Fair
The Hermosa Beach Police Department will host a Community Safety Fair on Saturday. Along with members of the city’s police department, Los Angeles County firefighters and lifeguards will offer safety demonstrations. There will be food, and games and prizes for kids. The event will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Community Center lawn, and last until 1 p.m.
Sister City fundraiser
The South Bay Sister Cities organization will host its annual fundraiser at Mexican restaurant Ortega 120 in Redondo Beach on Sunday. Along with food from the restaurant, there will be a silent auction, and all proceeds will benefit the cultural exchange programs of the three Beach Cities. Tickets are $30. Youth Health study session
The Hermosa Beach City Council will join members of the city school district’s Board of Education and the Beach Cities Health District for a study session on youth health issues next Wednesday. The meeting is likely to include data from the California Healthy Kids Survey, examine the city’s recent efforts to curtail vaping and e-cigarette use among teens, and discuss mental health efforts aimed at youth. The session begins at 6 p.m. in council chambers.
