Document shredding and hazardous household waste collection is free at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center Saturday, Oct. 23, from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. Presented by the city and Athens Services, the shredding is on-site, with no limit to how much paper an individual may drop off. Hazardous household waste collection has a limit of 15 gallons, or 125 pounds per trip.
Proof of address is required for either service. Eligible hazardous waste includes household products labeled as toxic, corrosive, poisonous, flammable, irritant or combustible. Examples include motor oil, paint thinner and car batteries.
Universal waste will also be taken, such as household batteries, expired medications, fluorescent light bulbs and more. Refrigerators, stoves and other bulk items are not eligible.
The Performing Arts Center is located at 1935 Manhattan Beach Boulevard. ER
