Redondo Beach, which presently has no skateboard parks, may soon have two. On Monday, Feb. 14, the Harbor Commission will review proposals for a skate park on the Redondo pier, and a second park at Perry Park, in North Redondo.

If the proposals are approved – and not appealed to the Coastal Commission – construction would begin in late May or early summer.

The Pad 10 site, part of a vacant 10,000 square-foot circle across from the International Boardwalk, may incorporate the existing back wall of a separate walkway.

“Earlier (public) comments have said to try to maintain multiple purposes there,” said City Engineer Andy Winje. Open air yoga and other exercise classes are held at the site.

The harbor skate park is expected to cost $110,000, and the Perry Park $30,000. The L.A. Kings Foundation donated $25,000 for the parks.

Spohn Ranch SkateParks, of Los Angeles, who built the popular Manhattan Beach skatepark in 2017, has been selected as the contractor for the two parks..

The Mon., Feb. 14 Harbor Commission (virtual) hearing starts at 6:30 p.m. ER
