A Redondo Beach proposal to ensure shoreline parking and design standards for accessory dwelling units (ADU) is on the agenda for a Coastal Commission hearing April 6.

To preserve full public access to the beach, Redondo proposes requiring one off street parking space for each ADU. In addition, if a garage, carport or covered parking spot is converted to an ADU, the homeowner would need to replace the lost parking with off-street parking.

State law allows parking requirements for ADUs in the coastal zone.

ADU design matters for consideration include entryway requirements, minimum and maximum height and setback limitations.

For instructions on how to submit a public comment, go to www.coastal.ca.gov. The hearing starts at 9 a.m.

The in-person meeting is in Ventura at the Ventura County Board of Supervisors Chambers, 800 South Victoria Avenue. ER
