“Pitchers and Pictures” was the aptly named title of a show of Rick Lesser’s surf photography on Thursday, Feb. 24 at Waterman’s on Hermosa’s Pier Plaza. In addition to a 20-minute movie of Hawaii on the main flat screen, other screens were rolling a 250-image slideshow of Lesser’s work, documenting the surf lifestyle. There also was a full-size photo booth outside and prints displayed above the bar. After the glow sticks and beers had taken full effect, Alonso Vargas and his band, The Analog, rocked the house until closing time..A number of both local and international surfing celebs stopped by, including Palos Verdes’ Alex and Hawaii’s Jamie O’Brien, who was in town to meet with Body Glove, his new sponsor.
