Dredging of King Harbor along the breakwall began Monday, Feb. 12, with a scoop dredge, tugboat and spoils barge, operated by contractors Manson Construction.
The project involves two areas – starting with a sandbar built up inside the breakwall from Marina Way to Yacht Club Way, to remove about 60,000 cubic yards of sediment.
The second stretch is along the short breakwall by Kincaid’s Restaurant, where 2,000 yards will be hauled away and dumped farther out in the ocean. The project is estimated to take six weeks.
