Have a heart

The Hermosa Beach Education Foundation presents its annual “Hearts of Hermosa” dinner dance to benefit the city schools Saturday, March 24 at a private venue next to the Hermosa Beach Community Center, 720 Pier Ave.

Doors open 5:45 p.m. Tickets are $140, or two for $250. Corporate and family sponsorships are available, and drink tickets also are available for pre-purchase. For more see www.HBEF.org.

For a cure

The Woman’s Club of Hermosa Beach hosts its sixth annual Adrienne’s Search for Children’s Cancer Cure to benefit Pablove Shutterbugs, a program of The Pablove Foundation (www.pablove.org), Saturday, March 3 at the Hermosa Beach Kiwanis Hall, 2515 Valley Drive.

The family friendly fundraiser, free to kids 12 and under, begins 5 p.m. and includes an arts and crafts area for kids, a large silent auction, catered food from Silvio’s Brazilian BBQ, a cash bar with Budweiser, wine, fresh margaritas, homemade sangria and Jell-O shots, and music by Michael Paul Morgan and the Rogues Rock ‘n’ Blues Band after dinner.

Tickets are $30 and may be purchased with credit card via PayPal at www.womansclubofhermosabeach.org. Donations are gratefully accepted as well.

Design a park

Kids fifth grade and under will participate in a “Design Your Dream Playground” contest for the playground portion of South Park, which is set to undergo a renovation.

Winners from each grade level will receive a certificate from the mayor, presented at a Hermosa Beach City Council meeting, and a Paciugo Gelato gift certificate. Additional awards will include “Most Creative,” “Best Use of Nature” and “Most Interesting Play Equipment.”

Chamber event

The Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau holds a networking event, for businesspeople to promote their businesses, meet new clients and make new friends and contacts, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23 at Rockefeller, 422 Pier Ave. Complimentary appetizers and no-host bar.
