The 24th Place Fourth of July Parade wound through the crowded, narrow streets of the Hermosa Valley neighborhood Wednesday afternoon, as it has done for generations.
The block party on Power Street is also a mainstay, with about 50 families coming together. Everyone chips in $5 to pay for a taco cart with all the fixings, said Erin Condren. The taco cart was parked in her Power Street driveway where chefs served neighbors, and the street itself was chalked and full of party favors that Condren helped provide.
“This is what we do on Power Street,” Condren said. “Have fun.”
The small parade starts on 24th Place, turns down Park Avenue and then to 24th Street, down Power Street, then to 21st Street and onto Valley Drive.
