Those seeking respite from the crowded beach scene may prefer the Seaside Lagoon at the Redondo Beach King Harbor. The saltwater lagoon, supervised by lifeguards, has a large sand area for sun bathing, children’s play equipment, a snack bar and a volleyball court in addition to a luau shelter, barbeque pits and tables for parties. Season passes are $100 for a family of four, $65 for individuals and $25 for seniors above age 60. The lagoon is open daily from May 25 to Sept. 2 from 10 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.

Seaside Lagoon Fireworks

The 7th Annual Friends of the Fireworks’ Seaside Lagoon Independence Day Celebration is as much fun as the name is long. Last year’s celebration featured live music from Shari Puorto Band, Blue Line and the Free to Be Me Drum Circle. The fireworks show was synced to a Jack 93.1 FM live broadcast.
