A 22-year-old man was found dead early Sunday on the beach in El Porto of Manhattan Beach, in what officials have deemed a suicide.
An autopsy confirmed that the Indiana man died from a gunshot wound to the head, said Ed Winter, assistant chief of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
Manhattan Beach police responded to reports of a “gunshot fired” and “man down” around 4:30 a.m. Sunday, said MBPD Public Information Officer Stephanie Martin. When officers arrived on scene—the waterline of 42nd Street—they located Kast on the sand and a gun nearby.
Paramedics pronounced him dead on the scene at 4:42 a.m., Winter said.
