Community Police Academy

The Manhattan Beach Police Department is now accepting applications for the winter 2014 Community Police Academy, a 10-week program that educates local residents on various aspects of law enforcement. With the first session beginning Jan. 9, 2014, the program will continue every Thursday and culminate with a graduation ceremony on March 13. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, reside or work in Manhattan Beach, must have a clean record and submit a background check. Applications are available at citymb.info. ‘Spirit Faire’

Gurus Gate Yoga will celebrate its grand opening this Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. with an all-day, free-to-the-public event at its new holistic wellness center in downtown Manhattan Beach.
