
Redondo cross country standouts Amber Gore and Carlos Suarez continued to dominate Bay League local competition Thursday night, winning the girls and boys races at the Bay League Finals held under the lights at Redondo.
Despite the first-place finishes, Redondo finished second to Palos Verdes which swept the team titles. Mira Costa finished third behind Redondo in both races.

Gore and Suarez both said that while winning the Bay League championship was among their goals this season, their focus has been on leading Redondo to a CIF title and an appearance at the State meet.
Redondo’s girls team is ranked sixth in CIF-SS Division 2 and is ranked No. 12 in the state by Dyestatcal.com. Mira Costa is ranked No. 9 in the division and No. 29 in the state.
Palos Verdes competes in Division 3 where the Sea Kings are ranked No. 1 in the CIF Southern Section and No. 4 in the state.
Gore is the eleventh-ranked girl in the state and easily won the Bay League crown with a time of 17:12. Palos Verdes runners went 2-3 with Jacquelyn Smith (17:41) edging Camille Hines (17:43).
Also running for Redondo were Taylor Beaudoin (7th, 18:02), Anevay Hiehle (8th, 18:04), Trinity Leonard (11th, 18:20), Thalia Silva (13th, 18:28), Nicole Pederson (16th, 18:53) and Peyton Bell (22nd, 19:27).
Emma Lautanen led Mira Costa with a 5th-place finish at 18:02. Helping the Mustang’s cause were Natasha Brunstein (9th, 18:05), Sierra Andrade (14th, 18:38), Avery Ward (17th, 19:00), Amanda Han 918th, 19:02) and Leora Tofler (20th, 19:07).
Redondo’s boys squad is ranked No. 6 in Division 2 and No. 25 in the state. Mira Costa holds the No. 10 spot in the division while Palos Verdes is ranked No. 3 in Division 3 and No. 15 in the state.

The UCLA-bound Suarez captured the boys title with a time of 15:05, out-pacing Palos Verdes’ Robert Franklin (15:16) and Redondo teammate Ethan Comeaux (15:20).
Sea Hawks following Suarez and Comeaux were Sergio Rodriguez (7th, 15:33), Jonathan Douglas (10th, 15:46), Harrison Fox (17th, 16:02), Luke Stevens (18th, 16:08) and Andrew Zavala (24th, 16:15).
Mira Costa was led by Brandon Shirazi (8th, 15:40). Also running for the Mustangs were Caleb Llorin (12th, 15:54), Ethan Williams) 14th, 15:57), Xavier Court (16th, 16:00), Chance Weston (20th, 16:11), Matt O’Brien (26th, 16:31) and Alex Graves (27th, 16:32).
The prelims of the CIF- Southern Section-Ford Championships presented by Farmers will be held Saturday, Nov. 15 at Mt. SAC beginning at 7:45 a.m. The finals will be held the following Saturday at the same venue.
The CIF State Championship Meet presented by Farmers takes place Saturday, Nov. 25 at Woodward Park in Fresno.
