After a lengthy closed session meeting, the Redondo Beach City Council has chosen Joe Hoefgen as their permanent City Manager. Hoefgen has been the city’s Acting City Manager since April.
Hoefgen, who had previously been the city’s community services director, was named to the interim position after the most recent city manager, Bill Workman, was removed from the position following lengthy periods of strife with city employees.
Hoefgen was named to the position following a unanimous vote from the council. “He’s done a great job, so we’re keeping him on,” Mayor Steve Aspel said.
City staff are drafting a contract to be approved by the City Council at the Jan. 20 council meeting, according to Aspel.
