Enrollment increases at Manhattan Beach Unified School District

Enrollment at Manhattan Beach Unified School District is up by 89 students compared to last year – in total, 6,707 students are enrolled. Third grade is as full as possible and the class sizes have hit the maximum cap at a student-to- teacher ratio of 24 to 1, said Ellyn Schneider, executive director of educational services, at last week’s school board meeting. Freshman enrollment numbers at Mira Costa High School increased this year by about 150 students.

Numbers tend to fluctuate during the first couple weeks of school, Schneider said. “Our enrollment is stable,” she said. “That’s the most important thing we need to know.”
