Surf icon honored
Mayor Wayne Powell honored Spyder Surf founder Dennis Jarvis at the June 16 council meeting. Jarvis was recently inducted into the city of Hermosa Beach’s Surfer’s Walk of Fame. Powell had Jarvis sign one of his early surfboards and the two posed for a photo.
Concerts series begins
The city’s free Concerts in the Park series begins on July 5 with a doubleheader at Polliwog Park. Neil Diamond tribute band Hot August Night and Maira Vasquez as Barbra Steisand will perform from 5 to 7 p.m. and Mayor Powell will emcee. For more info, visit citymb.info. ER
