Triathlon benefits children
Mary Ann Guthery of King Harbor Marina and Donna Dawick of Cheer for Children accepted a $6,000 check from Rick Crump (right), the Race Director of The Redondo Beach Triathlon. Brett Bennet (standing) of California Health Plans, the Redondo Beach Triathlon’s Premiere Sponsor was also in attendance. The check presentation was made at the Cheer for Children annual holiday party for the physically challenged students at Washington Elementary. Registration is now open for next year’s Redondo Beach Triathlon at www.rbtri.com, which will once again benefit Cheer for Children. Race date is June 10, 2012 and is limited to 650 athletes.
Baseball toy drive
The Redondo Samurai Baseball Club held its first Holiday Toy Drive in mid December at Perry Park in Redondo Beach. Pictured are members of both the 7U, (bottom row), and 9U teams along with their coaches outside of the Redondo Beach Fire Department, Station #2.
High sea attack
Four tall ships including the Lady Washington, the ship that was docked at King Harbor, will stage a recreation of an 18th century naval skirmish with a cannon battle and close quarters maneuvers on Dec. 26 at 2 p.m. in San Pedro.
