Markets, hotel cited in alcohol sting

Two markets and one hotel that serve and sell alcohol were cited in Manhattan Beach and El Segundo on April 26 for allegedly serving alcohol to a minor, police said.

The establishments include Trader Joe’s in Manhattan Beach and the Double Tree Hotel and Walgreens in El Segundo.

A decoy was sent to six on-sale establishments, which include bars and restaurants, and two off-sale establishments, which include liquor stores and grocery stores.

The individuals who sold the beverages to the minors face misdemeanor charges – a minimum fine of $250, or 24 hours of community service, police said. The businesses could face suspension or revocation of their liquor licenses.

The citations have been forwarded to ABC for review.
