Hermosa Beach Kiwanians celebrate officer installations

Nearly 100 surfers formed a heart shape ring at the end of the Hermosa Beach pier on Saturday in memory of surf photographer Leroy Grannis. Several  hundred  more friends and fans of the long time Hermosa Beach resident joined the memorial from the top of the pier. Prior to the paddleout notable surfers, including shapers Hap Jacobs and Donald Takayama, former pro Mike Purpus, Hawaii’s Rabbit Kekai, Mexico’s Ignacio Felix and lifelong friends Fenton Scholes and Dick Miney of the Palos Verdes Surf Club talked story about the fabled photographer.
