Hermosa Beach police nab robbery suspect

Photos courtesy Hermosa Beach Police DepartmentHermosa police detectives and a special investigations unit of the Redondo Beach Police Department on Tuesday arrested a suspect in several robberies in the South Bay and Los Angeles, and nabbed a suspected accomplice as well.

Police arrested Daniel Guarisco, 19, in the early morning hours at his parents’ home in Wilmington, Hermosa Beach Police Detective Mick Gaglia said.

“Detectives learned of Guarisco’s involvement in several robberies that occurred in the South Bay and Los Angeles on March 21, 2010 due to an anonymous tip,” Gaglia said. “Hours prior to the arrest, HBPD Detective Jon Sibbald contacted a victim of a Hermosa Beach armed robbery. The victim positively identified Guarisco as the person who robbed her.”

Detectives also arrested a suspected accomplice, Anthony Lewis, also 19 of Wilmington, and recovered stolen property and a replica semi-automatic “Glock” style weapon, Gaglia said, adding that Lewis admitted the weapon was used during the robberies.
