Fundraising: A King of the Court style volleyball tournament and silent auction will take place Saturday, Nov. 3 at VIBE Volleyball Lab, 110 Eucalyptus Drive, El Segundo. Age divisions include 12-14, 15-18 and 18 and over. Entry fee of $80 includes a T-shirt and donation to benefit former Redondo boys volleyball head coach Duncan Avery and his family. Avery’s daughter Kalea, 6, and son Noah, 4, underwent surgeries only weeks apart to have brain tumors removed and are undergoing intensive chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Baseball: LA Dodgers Training Academy will be holding its Grand Opening Ceremony at 2607 Manhattan Beach Blvd., Redondo Beach on Saturday, Nov. 3 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Activities include meeting the instructors, playing games, eating and a swag bag. Rugby: Mira Costa will hold a Ruggers Day Camp on Monday, Nov. 12 from 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m. at Waller Stadium. Open to boys and girls ages 5-14, the non-contact camp is run by Mira Costa High School varsity rugby coaches and scholar athletes. Elite Ruggers ages 11-14 will receive an introduction to high school experience presented by Head Coach Duke Dulgarian. Registration is $40 (add $10 day of camp). Volleyball: National High School Coach of the Year Tommy Chaffins is having clinics starting up for beginning to intermediate boys and girls in 3rd through 8th grades. Basketball: The Dave Miller Basketball Academy is offering a unique basketball experience for young players across the South Bay, using the same drills and terminology that Miller taught in the NBA, college, high school and with elite youth teams. Yoga: Yoga on the Octagon at the Redondo Beach Pier is free for all levels. Held Wednesdays 6 – 7 p.m., 500 Fisherman’s Wharf, Redondo Beach (west end of the pier behind Tony’s). Bring a yoga mat, towel and water. Redondopier.com.

Running:  The annual winter Manhattan Beach Glowtide 5K will take place Saturday, Dec. 22 beginning at 5:30 p.m. The race begins and ends under the Holiday lights of the Manhattan Beach Pier. Participants receive glow necklaces and Beachy T-shirts. Unique wooly hats awarded to the top 5 finishers. Following the 5K will be the Little Elves Dash. Registration is ongoing for the 41st Redondo Beach Super Bowl 10K/5K Run/Walk, to be held Sunday, Feb. 3, 2019 and hosted by the Redondo Beach Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau. The event includes a two-day Health and Fitness Expo, a Baby Buggy 10K, Kids Run, pre-race Costume Contest presented by the King Harbor Association and Michelob Ultra Post Race Hospitality Area. Participants receive a finisher medal and T-shirt with custom awards presented to the top three male and female finishers in each category. Entry fees are $35 (5K), $40 (10K) and $10 (Kids Run).
