REDONDO BEACH, Calif. — Beach Cities Health District (BCHD) has been selected by Modern Healthcare as one of the 2020 Best Places to Work in Healthcare.

BCHD is ranked number six in the Provider/Insurer category of Modern Healthcare’s Best Places to Work for 2020.

The complete list of this year’s winners is available at ModernHealthcare.com/bestplaceslist. Modern Healthcare will publish a special supplement featuring all the winners with its October 12 issue.

“It has been an especially trying year for the world, and healthcare in particular as COVID-19 ravages our communities and your workplaces,” said Aurora Aguilar, Modern Healthcare’s editor. “But the organizations recognized on this year’s list rose to the top and continued to be a source of strength for their teammates. The loyalty and trust between employers and their workers have been put to the test now more than ever. We congratulate the Best Places to Work in Healthcare for continuing to serve their workforce and communities during such an unprecedented time.”

“Our employees are our greatest asset at BCHD and they have risen to the occasion during this pandemic,” said Tom Bakaly, CEO of BCHD. “In March, we shifted our focus to helping the residents of Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach have the information, testing and assistance needed to deal with COVID-19 and I could not be more proud of our organization for the work we have done in 2020.”

This is the ninth time BCHD has been recognized as a Best Place to Work by Modern Healthcare. BCHD has been recognized eight straight years and nine of the last 10.

The Modern Healthcare award program identifies and recognizes outstanding employers in the healthcare industry nationwide. Modern Healthcare partners with the Best Companies Group on the assessment process, which includes an extensive employee survey.

Beach Cities Health District was celebrated, along with the other winning organizations, during the 2020 Best Places to Work in Healthcare awards gala, held virtually October 8 in conjunction with the Workplace of the Future Conference.
