Led by all-tournament team member Emma White, Mira Costa’s girls’ volleyball team placed second in the prestigious Ann Kang Invitational Tournament held in Hawaii, Aug. 12-14. The Mustangs defeated Los Alamitos before losing to a powerful Chung Shan team from Taiwan. “Taiwan was tough,” Mira Costa head coach Lisa Zimmerman said. “They served well and different than we are used to. Also, they pass and play defense with ease which made their offense tough to stop. It was a fun tune-up for our season.” Shown with their runner-up trophy are: (back row, l-r) Jace Pardon, Emma White, Mandy Smith, Gracie Chavers, Maddy Klineman, Corie Bain, Ella Rosenfeld, (front row) Kelsey McIntire, Katie Warshaw, Andi Zbojniewicz, Kate Kious and Kylie Taylor.
