by Kevin Cody Surfer’s Journal publisher Steve Pezman once compared the Hap Jacobs surf shop of the late ‘60s to the Notre Dame Cathedral because of the Jacobs’ shrine-like display of his meticulously crafted surfboards. Jacobs closed his shop, at 422 Pacific Coast Highway in Hermosa Beach, in 1971. He passed away in December 2021, at age 91.
