Competing in its first tournament together, the AYSO Region 34 BU14 Redondo Beach All Stars won the Torrance Christmas Classic without surrendering a goal in the five games played during the two-day tournament. Running

Registration is open for the 33rd annual Redondo Beach Super Bowl 10K which will be held Sunday, Feb. 6 beginning at 7 a.m. with the popular costume judging contest. The 5K Run/Walk begins at 7:30 a.m., followed by the Baby Buggy 10K at 8:15 a.m. and the 10K at 8:30 a.m. Custom awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers in each age category. All participants receive a custom race shirt and two free beers are available in the Asahi Beer Garden for those over 21 years of age (while supplies last). A Health Expo presented by Michelob Ultra will be held at the Seaside Lagoon Saturday Feb. 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on race day from 6 a.m. to noon. Baseball

Boundaries have been eliminated for kids wishing to play baseball in Redondo Beach. The Central, North and South leagues have combined to form Redondo Beach Little League which offers co-ed baseball for players ages 4-14 and softball for girls ages 5-12. The new league will continue to utilize the fields at Anderson, Dominguez and Perry parks from the three preceding leagues. On-line registration is available at www.redondolittleleague.com. Fees are $250 for Juniors (ages 13-14); $150 for Majors, AAA, AA (ages 8-12) and Single A (age 7); $125 for T-Ball (ages 4-6). Softball fees at $125 for 6U and $150 for 8U, 10U and 12U. A $20 family reduction is made for each additional child. Walk-up registration will be available on tryout day Saturday, Jan. 8 at Anderson and Dominguez Parks. Velocity Sports Performance, 2607 Manhattan Beach Blvd., Redondo Beach, will be hosting its Baseball/Softball Speed & Agility Clinic beginning Tuesday through Feb. 17. The clinic is open to athletes 3rd-8th grade and is designed to increase speed for optimal range, improve balance and agility on the base path, develop rotational power at the plate, gain strength and reduce likelihood of injury. Basketball

Dave Miller, former New Orleans Hornets/NCAA basketball coach will be hosting his Saturday Night Basketball League starting Jan. 8th and concluding Mar. 26th. The class will meet each Saturday night for the 3-month session. The league will run from 5-6 p.m. at the Spectrum Athletic Club South Bay. The workout sessions will teach the fundamentals of the game and how to play the game the right way in a safe positive learning environment. The league’s goal is to provide physical activity combined with sportsmanship and positive values while teaching life skills that will last on and off the court. Fitness

Velocity Sports Performance will be hosting clinics on Mondays and Wednesdays through Feb. 16 at its facility located at 2607 Manhattan Beach Blvd., Redondo Beach. A Speed & Agility clinic will be held for athletes 3rd-8th grade and is designed to increase power, explosiveness and top speed while improving first-step quickness, lateral and top speeds with sessions running from 5-6 p.m. Fees are $199 for twice/week, $119 for 1x/week. Velocity’s Sports FUNdamental Movements class is open to boys and girls in 1st-2nd grade and is designed to develop motor skills and coordination while introducing movements in football, basketball, T-ball and soccer. A Martin Luther King Day Speed & Agility Clinic will be held Monday, Jan. 17 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Velocity Sports Performance, 2607 Manhattan Beach Blvd., Redondo Beach. This camp is for 3rd-8th grade athletes and the focus is on teaching proper running mechanics in order to improve, first step quickness and top end speed. This camp applies to all those who want to improve their running mechanics. AdventurePlex, 1701 Marine Ave., Manhattan Beach is offering its Open Rock Wall and Ropes Course on Saturdays from 12-3 p.m. (Rock Wall also open Sundays from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.). Whether a single child, the whole family, or just a group of friends (Ages 5 and up for rock wall, 8 and up for ropes course), the course provides challenges of solving problems and overcoming obstacles. Groups of seven will start every hour and will take approximately 45 minutes to complete the courses. Advance registration is recommended. Cost is $8-$20 depending on activities. Football

Registration is underway for the Beach Cities Sports Youth Flag Football Spring Season which will begin in March with Friday night, Saturday or Sunday games. The league consists of four divisions for players ages 6-13. Most games are played at Mira Costa’s Waller Stadium, pitting kids of similar ages in competitive, fast-paced 8-on-8 games. Cost is $250 per player. Registration ends January 31. ER
