
American Martyrs School is hosting its 31st Annual 5K Run/Walk Saturday, Feb. 26 at 8 a.m. The race course is a fast, challenging 5K (3.1 miles) through the Manhattan Beach Tree Section. Medals will be awarded to the top three in each age group. Cash prizes given to top overall male and female runners along with individual and group costume contest winners. An awards ceremony and continental breakfast will be held after the race. Fees are $28 for adults, $23 for children or $55 per family. The Tim O’Donnell Honorary 8th Annual Cold Hands Classic Paddleboard Race will be held at Cabrillo Beach Sunday at 8:30 a.m. The event, a four-mile course around the Lighthouse, includes a t-shirt, lunch, awards and raffle. The Hermosa Beach 4-Person Coed Beach Volleyball Tuesday League begins March 15 north of the Hermosa Beach pier and will be played from 6-8 p.m. Team registration must be made at the Community Center at 710 Pier Ave. in Hermosa Beach prior to league start date. There is a cap of 44 teams and individuals must contact Prank Monkey to be placed on a team for registration. Cost for the six-week league (plus two playoff weeks) is $225 per team. AdventurePlex, 1701 Marine Ave., Manhattan Beach is offering its Open Rock Wall and Ropes Course on Saturdays from 12-3 p.m. (Rock Wall is also open Sundays from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.). Whether a single child, the whole family, or just a group of friends (Ages 5 and up for rock wall, 8 and up for ropes course), the course provides challenges of solving problems and overcoming obstacles. Registration is underway for the Beach Cities Sports Youth Flag Football Spring Season which will begin in March with Friday night, Saturday or Sunday games. The league consists of four divisions for players ages 6-13. Most games are played at Mira Costa’s Waller Stadium, pitting kids of similar ages in competitive, fast-paced 8-on-8 games.
