Beach Tennis: West Coast Beach Tennis will be hosting its Endless Summer tournament on Saturday and Sunday at 14th Street and The Strand in Hermosa Beach. For more information on one of the world’s fastest growing sport, visit westcoastbeachtennis.net.

 

Volleyball: The Amateur Athletic Union’s (AAU) Southern Pacific Beach Volleyball Committee hosts its Coed Open tournament on Sunday at Dockweiler State Beach in Playa Del Rey. Competition begins at 9 a.m. featuring 18U/14U/12U divisions. Open to AAU members, the cost of the tournament in $63.99 per player. The California Beach Volleyball Association will be holding the California Cup State Championships Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 31-Sept. 1 at the piers in Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach. Play begins at 9 a.m. each day. Saturday’s action includes Men’s and Women’s Unrated, A, AA divisions at Manhattan Beach while the Women’s Open competition takes place in Hermosa. Sunday features Men’s B, Coed Unrated, A and Open divisions in Manhattan and Men’s Open in Hermosa. The California Youth Cup Championship will be held Sunday at the Manhattan Beach Pier featuring boys and girls 12U/14U/16U/18U divisions. Cost is $42.50 per team. Open to boys and girls ages 7-15, the United States Youth Volleyball League (USYVL) is taking sign-ups for its Hermosa Beach league. The schedule is Mondays and Wednesdays Sept. to Oct. 30 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at South Park. Registration closes Sept. 1. For more information and to register, visit usyvl.org or call 1-888-988-7985. Football: The first Thursday night season of the Co-ed Flag Football on the Beach League begins Aug. 29 at 10th Street and The Strand in Hermosa Beach. Registration is offered as a team only and available at the Hermosa Beach Community Center, 710 Pier Ave.; online at hermosabch.org or by calling 310-318-0280. Cost is $265 per team for the six week season and two weeks of playoffs. Cycling: The South Bay Wheelmen hosts a group ride on the first Saturday of every month. Cyclists meet in the parking lot of the Catalina Coffee Company, 126 N. Catalina Ave, Redondo Beach at 9 a.m. The moderately-paced ride is 30-40 miles with some climbing and regroups at several points so no one gets left behind.
