“It’s always a surprise and I know there’s competition out there,” sports-action photographer Bo Bridges says of taking the Best of the Beach title again this year. “I’m just doing my day-to-day work.” Recently, the South Bay native’s day-to-day has entailed its share of high-profile work: traveling nationally with Sony’s athletes and shooting movie posters for the likes of “Brick Mansions,” which stars the late Paul Walker, and the French/Canadian TV series “Transporter.” This past year alone, he’s traveled to Fiji, Indonesia, Morocco, London, Paris and Mexico, but the Manhattan Beach resident manages to rooted. His Instagram account is a steady Best of the BeachSouth Bay stream, including aerial shots of the majestic Pacific coastline as well as great white sightings. Recently revamped, his gallery in downtown Manhattan Beach now has a new viewing room, lounge area and LCD screens. In April, he plans to throw an event with half the proceeds from custom pieces benefiting local schools. “To have a gallery and to have it succeed is something to be proud of,” he says. “I’m thankful to my fans and my clients.” — EK
