A local transient was found dead in a hot tub at the Quality Inn Hotel on Aviation Boulevard this morning.
Police responded to a 7:45 a.m. call that a possible trespasser was in the hot tub area of the hotel at 901 Aviation Boulevard, said Sgt. Bob Higgins in a press release.
Officers discovered an unresponsive 43-year-old man floating face down, and HBFD paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. There were no signs of foul play, and his name was being withheld pending notification of family. The investigation is ongoing.
“Initial indications are that it appears to be a tragic accident based on the empty alcohol containers at the scene,” Higgins said.
The man had a history of alcohol and narcotic abuse, including numerous contacts with the city’s police officers and paramedics over the years, Higgins said.
