Wind and sloppy, waist high surf didn’t deter body surfers from throughout California from competing in the 50th Anniversary International Surf Festival Body Surfing Championships on Saturday, July 30. The event is organized each year by the Gillis Body Surfing Association. Competitors are judged on maneuvers, tricks and wave size. Fins, but no other gear is allowed. Photo by Olivia Kestin
