Mira Costa’s graduation ceremony recognized 573 graduates on Thursday, June 15. The commencement took place at Mira Costa’s Waller Stadium.
The graduating class earned Magna (3.8 – 3.99) and Summa Cum (4.0+) Laude honors. There were 90 Magna Cum Laude and 209 Summa Cum Laude recipients.
The graduation speakers included Principal Dr. Karina Gerger, MBUSD Board of Trustees President Cathey Graves, and student speakers who were selected by a panel of administrators, teachers, and counselors. The program was live-streamed.
This year’s speakers were Class President Tyler Tang, Roi Clinton, Christopher Layden, and Heather Roth.
After the graduation ceremony, students headed to the beach to celebrate. Annually it’s been a tradition for graduates to participate in the Strand Stroll. Graduates walk from 22nd Street in Hermosa Beach to the Manhattan Beach Pier for a final send-off.
