Cops chase driver until car crashes

A motorist with six outstanding warrants led police on a high speed chase through the city that ended in a car accident last week.
Driver Vincent Olivadoti, 23, was already wanted for a list of felonies — including burglary, identity theft, narcotic violations and vandalism — when he attempted to outrun authorities, according to Manhattan Beach Police Officer Stephanie Martin.
“His record is extensive,” Martin said of Olivadoti, a former Manhattan Beach resident known by the MBPD. He recently moved to Rolling Hills.
Police responded at 7:15 p.m. March 24 to the 1700 block of Matthews Ave. after a resident reported a suspicious looking vehicle parked on the street.
Martin said that authorities followed the car to a 7-11 store at the corner of Artesia Blvd. and Prospect Ave., where it was parked with Olivadoti and passenger Steven Gingerich, 50, of Rolling Hills, inside.
When an officer approached the car for a traffic violation, Olivadoti took off, according to Martin.
“The pursuit went through various parts of Manhattan Beach at high rates of speed,” Martin said.
The chase ended when Olivadoti’s car crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of 16th Street and Bayview Avenue in Hermosa Beach.
No one was injured in the accident.
Police arrested Olivadoti for evading a police officer and for warrants. He is being held without bail until his April 12 court date. Five of his previous warrants were no bail warrants.
Gingerich was also arrested for his involvement in the pursuit and was later released.
