Costa student a YEA finalist

Mira Costa ninth grader Taylor Ryan will represent the Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce in the Young Entrepreneur Academy (YEA!) 12th Annual Saunders Scholars National Competition. The ”Shark Tank” style pitch  competition will award over $80,000 in cash, as well college scholarships to the Saunders College of Business at Rochester Institute of Technology. Viewers will be able to vote for the People’s Choice Award.  Ryan’s pitch  group will be on Saturday, October 17, between 10:30 a.m. noon. Viewers must register in advance at yeausa.org to participate in the text-to-vote People’s Choice Award. 

Ryan is among 36 semifinalists, representing 35 middle and high schools from 20 states. For the first time, the competition will be streamed live over the web YEA!’s YouTube channel and on Facebook live. 

Students in the Manhattan Beach Chamber YEA! Program, competed in front of a virtual investor panel in May. Ryan won the local competition with her Unstoppable Protective Gear proposal for protective sports breast cups so women can play field sports without the fear of getting injured. Ryan plays lacrosse at Mira Costa. ER
