El Camino invites students to on-campus registration on Monday, Aug. 16

“Boundless Spirit, by renowned sculptor and El Camino College alumnus James T. Russell, was unveiled on the college campus in 2014.

Students interested in attending El Camino College in the fall are invited to an on-campus event designed to help them complete the registration process. Bookstore gift certificates, giveaways, lunch, and more are also part of “Extreme Registration,” which runs 10 a.m. — 2 p.m. Aug. 16-19 in El Camino’s Student Services building and outside plaza.

“The Pandemic forced us to make major adjustments in the ways that we serve students,’ said El Camino College Superintendent/President Brenda Thames. “Many events and services were moved to an online delivery format, however, we know that not all students can access those services online and some students prefer a high-touch, hands-on student experience. We are taking a very proactive approach in exercising mandated and recommended health and safety precautions and protocols. We are delighted to be able to deliver these services to the students who need them. Students can come to campus to meet in person with our ‘Extreme Team’ and get help with their class registration as they learn more about El Camino and prepare for the fall semester. We are pleased to welcome our newest Warriors.”

The College is making a concerted effort to assist students with the cost of textbooks, supplies, and other educational materials that are critical for student success. Students will receive a $250 gift certificate to be used in the El Camino Bookstore if they register for 12 or more units; $100 Bookstore gift certificates will be given to students who register for six or more units. Backpacks will also be provided to each student who completes registration, along with a meal voucher redeemable for a hamburger, or a Beyond Meat burger, and fries that day at Café Camino.

El Camino staff members will be available to help students register for classes, while also offering express counseling, financial aid and application assistance, and other essential support. Three computer labs will be open so students can easily access their online application and registration accounts.

Students and their families must wear a mask while on campus and complete El Camino’s entry screening protocols when they arrive on campus. Screening kiosks will be located adjacent to the event.

Hundreds of classes are available for El Camino College’s fall 2021 semester to help students meet their educational and career goals in a supportive environment. Due to the effects of COVID-19, the majority of instruction for the fall semester will be delivered remotely. The fall semester begins Aug. 28; online registration is currently underway. Students are encouraged to register online as soon as possible for best class selection.

The schedule of classes, in both digital and searchable formats, can be viewed online: www.elcamino.edu/admissions/schedule.asp.
