Holiday art

Artlife Gallery invites the public to the most festive art exhibition of the year “Holiday Art Exhibit ” on view Dec. 3 – Dec. 31. Candy cane lane

The 1200 block of E. Acacia Avenue in El Segundo magically transforms into Candy Cane Lane every holiday season since 1919. The homes are festooned with lights and decorations and Santa’s sleigh stops for a visit on certain nights. The street will be closed to through traffic through Christmas night, and most houses will still have their lights up through New Year’s weekend. The lights are generally on from 6 until about 10 p.m. Located west of Sepulveda and south of Imperial Highway in El Segundo.

Community yoga

Shore fishing

The Department of Beaches and Harbors offers an introductory course to shore fishing. Fishing poles and bait will be provided at no cost. Anglers typically catch surfperch, croaker, corbina, halibut, and leopard shark. Please call (310) 726-4128 to register for each class. All ages welcome. Anyone under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. AQUA-tastic

The highly anticipated grand opening of the El Segundo Wiseburn Aquatics Center takes place 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. There will be a live band, food trucks, an inflatable obstacle courses (in the water), and recreational swimming. The $13 million aquatics center features a 53 meter, Olympic regulation pool, a 25 meter warm up pool, 500 stadium seats, a jumbotron and stadium-quality timing, lighting and sound systems. Because of limited parking a free shuttle will be available from the Joslyn Center at 339 Sheldon St., El Segundo. The Aquatics Center is located at 2240 E. Grand Ave, next to Wiseburn High School.
