The Hermosa Beach Friends of the Park jump-started Halloween on Saturday, October 19 with its Annual Pumpkins in the Park festival at Edith Rodaway Friendship Park. The day included pumpkin painting, face painting by the legendary Mijo, and the equally legendary Franklin Haynes Marionettes.

Organizers included Steve Francis and Howard Fishman, who helped found Pumpkins in the Park in 2000 when they were members of the Hermosa Beach Parks and Rec Commission. The festival is a fundraiser for the Hermosa Beach Friends of the Park.

This year’s Pumpkins in the Park was coordinated by Jody Levanthal, with help from Friends of the Parks board members Todd Saks, Shauna Valenzuela, and Taylor Hartwig.
