Another Manhattan Beach Halloween tradition was founded when nearly 50 golf carts lined up on 17th Street, behind Pacific School. The carts resembled rolling haunted houses, hearsts, hay wagons and other vehicles designed to frighten pedestrians and small children. The Halloween Parade of Costumed Golf Carts was organized by Shawn Giaconi, founder of the Manhattan Beach Golf Cart Crew. The parade was such a success, that Giaconi hopes to also hold golf cart parades over the holidays, on St. Pat Patrick’s Day and the Fourth of July.

The Halloween parade wound through the downtown, causing a minor traffic jam, prompting Giaconi to promise enlisting a police escort for future parades. ER
