The Hermosa Beach Police Department will soon start up programs for vacationing residents, seniors who live alone and those with Alzheimer’s disease, Sgt. Bob Higgins said.
In the You Are Not Alone program, officers or volunteers check in on senior citizen residents who live alone, documenting medication taken and general conditions.
In the Homeward Bound program, a resident with Alzheimer’s disease and their family members provide the department with contacts and personal information in case they wander away.
In the Vacation Check Program, members of the department conduct routine checks on the outside of homes for those away on vacation.
