Police have arrested a 52-year-old Torrance man who allegedly entered the Hermosa firehouse through an open door moments after firefighters left on a call, went to the living quarters where he rifled through a firefighter’s backpack, found his keys and stole his Dodge truck.

Police arrested Richard Warren Pollock in Victorville after he tried to trade in the stolen truck at a Harley-Davidson motorcycle dealership, Hermosa Beach Police Detective Mick Gaglia said.

The theft at the firehouse was caught on surveillance video at 4:40 a.m. Nov. 30, and the suspect left his bicycle behind, police said.

Prosecutors have filed charges of burglary, possession of stolen property, and vehicle theft against Pollock, police said.

Police did not identify the firefighter.
