Hermosa Valley School plans student bike rodeo

Parking at the beach was a problem even for bicycles during the Memorial Day Weekend Fiesta Hermosa. On the positive side, every bike parked on Pier Plaza represented a car not circling through the residential neighborhoods, in search of a parking place.

Helmets are becoming increasingly common among student bicyclists as a result of school and Hermosa Beach Police education efforts.

Hermosa Valley school is hosting a bike rodeo on Monday, June 13, from 8:10 a.m to 2:15 p.m. Safe Moves City will set up a simulated city with streets, bike lanes, sidewalks, traffic lights,  cars and railroad tracks for student bicyclists to navigate.  The bike rodeo is funded  by the Beach Cities Cycling Club.
