Hockey coach accused of molesting boy

Hermosa police have arrested an ice hockey coach after a boy revealed during counseling that he had been molested on two occasions.

Daniel “Danny” Gibb, 31, was arrested outside his Redondo Beach home last Thursday.
“Detectives placed suspect Gibb under arrest following his confirmation of the sexual molestation during a telephone conversation with the victim,” Hermosa Beach Police Detective Mick Gaglia said. “The molestation of the teenage boy occurred several years ago while he was 11 and again while he was approximately 13.”

The boy played on a team coached by Gibb, Gaglia said. Police learned of the allegations when the Los Angeles County Department of Child and Family Services filed a report to them, and a parent of the boy filed a police report as well, Gaglia said.

Gibb “has coached locally at the Toyota Center in El Segundo along with various ice hockey facilities and teams throughout Southern California,” Gaglia said.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office in Torrance reviewed the case and interviewed the boy, and then filed two felony charges of lewd conduct with a child under age 14 against Gibb.

Gibb posted $100,000 bond and was released from custody on Saturday, with a court date for arraignment scheduled Nov. 10.

Police urge anyone with information about Gibb to contact Gaglia at 310-318-0348 or mgaglia@hermosapolice.org. ER
